East German Textile Production with Yearly Growth Rates in Technical Textiles

Technical Textiles take a share of 42% of the East German textile production, which is above the federal average. Bertram Höfer, chief executive officer of the association of the North-Eastern German textile- and clothing industry e.V./vti , Chemnitz, explicated further in front of the trade press on the occasion of the latest Techtextil on the grounds of the Frankfurt Fair that hometextiles have 30% and textiles for clothing 28% of the production total. Many of the hometextiles manufacturers of the region have found with the segment Technical Textiles a "second leg to stand on". The Eastern German branch will emerge strengthened out of the current crisis and counts on "a black zero with a red rim" at year`s end, they said.

The textile industry of Saxony has mastered the transformation from traditional fabrication to development and production of innovative hightech products. Even more than 180 Saxon companies and research institutes are active in the techtextile sector. With the network initiative Technische Textilien Sachsen (VITT) (Technical Textiles Saxony) - the Innovation Netzwerk Textil e.V., Chemnitz/INNtex with managing director Klaus Stapf at the top as network manager - the Free State of Saxony supports the set-up of strategic enterprise networks. In Thuringia it is the state-promoted project "SmartTex". According to Höfer the 200 companies of the total branch with 18,000 employees look into the future deliberately optimistic, even if there are currently export drops to see. >> read more

China News IV

Analysis of industrial production activities in the first four months

Textile industry, a major driver of the Chinese economy, has fallen victim to the global credit crisis and weaker demand. In the first two months, the output, sale, investment and export of textile industry grew at a slower pace than last year. But things began to pick up after that as the economy slowly begins to recover since March. Significant gains at that time will be hard to come by, and won't be nearly enough to prevent other sizeable slippage in overall textile and apparel activity. According to National Bureau of Statistics of China, from January to April, the total industrial production value of China’s statistics-worthy Chinese textile enterprises edged up 4.26 percent year-on-year to 1035.182 billion CNY, 13.43 percentage points lower than the same period last year, which already shows a little recovery.
