ITMA Asia + CITME 2010: positive conclusion from German exhibitors

The German companies are pleased with their presence at Asia’s leading trade fair, ITMA Asia + CITME 2010, held in the end of June in Shanghai/China. According to a survey of the VDMA Textile Machinery Association, Frankfurt/Germany, over 60 % of the German exhibitors evaluate the prospects for the post exhibition business to be very good or good.

ITMA Asia + CITME 2010: More foreign visitors

The 2nd ITMA ASIA + CITME exhibition ended on June 26, 2010, with 1,171 exhibitors (2008: 1,368 exhibitors) from 28 countries and more than 82,000 visitors (2008: 80,000) from 94 countries. Over 20 % of the visitors were from overseas.

ITMF: Fall in Global Yarn and Fabric Production

World yarn production dropped by -12.8% in the 1st quarter of 2010 in comparison to the previous one. This drop which is mainly a consequence of a lower output level in China (-17.3%). Europe recorded also a decrease of -4.0%, whereas North and South America’s production rose by +5.1% and +17.4%, respectively.

EU: -3.85% clothing imports in 2009

Clothing imports into the EU fell in value by 3.8% to €57.3 billion in 2009. This was the first decline in over ten years, and followed a slowdown in growth from 12.8% in 2006 to just 2.5% in 2008. Imports also fell in volume terms, by 6.8% to 4.25 million tons.
