India - the market for fibers, textiles and textile manufacturers to 2012

India is the world’s second largest producer and consumer of fibers, textiles and textile manufactured products, after China, and recently the industrial sector has grown enormously. The production of man-made fibers, for instance, has increased 1,400% in the last 20 years, to 2,450,000 tons. Because of this growth, the internationally renowned organization Comité International de la Rayonne et des Fibres Synthétiques (CIRFS) recently commissioned a report which examined developments in India in order to provide man-made fiber producers with information to aid their strategic planning, particularly with respect to the impact of technological change, production, trade and consumption and global market development.
The report analyses the future prospects for the market for natural and man-made fibers, textiles and textile manufactures in India until 2012.
